I actually wrote this blog a few years ago while we were all on the "Myspace" craze :)
Hope it's a blessing to you as it has been to me after reading it over again.
Jonathan B
Notice the words Saul and Israel were embolden. The entire country was afraid of this giant. These people had been delivered out of Egypt, given manna in the dessert and always had God's undivided attention throughout the ages but yet they were still afraid of the giant.
To be honest I think as a people they lacked to see that God was still and that God still saves because of their ungodly leader.
God was telling me that the situation happened in the Old Testament with Saul and the people being afraid of the Giants and taking them on, is happening in this day and age.
The leaders have led the people so far but are afraid to attack the Goliath of their church, town, home and country. If a leader is afraid it has a knock on effect on the people they are leading and in the case of Israel the whole nation were afraid.
2nd Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.
God doesn't want his people to be fearful of Goliaths its not in his will. Since the leaders and the nation were afraid of Goliath
Cue David the humble shepherd boy, the youngest of the family, the psalmist. Who knows the God he serves and loves to worship him. David had experienced God's favour on his life since his early childhood. The reason why David had to be on the backside of the dessert is because God wanted him away from life's distractions. So sometimes you feel that nobody is around you or nobody seems to be talking to you, sometimes you feel you don't exist your voice is not heard its just because God wants you in the dessert for himself so he can shape and mould you into the image he wants you to be, to share intimacy with himself stuff you can't receive when in public. So understand when we enter the dessert and feel isolated we are in God's eyes and his shaping us into better people.
David in all innocence came to give food to his older brothers but overheard the taunt coming from the giant. While in the dessert remember that David had know built and had a better relationship with his God. So when the Goliath was taunting the Living God it upset God so because it upset God it definenlty upset the man after his heart little David!!! David knew that God had saved him from the hands of lions and bears and knew that the same God would protect him against this giant, in David's eyes Goliath was just a dog so didn't see much difference in the enemy.
As David had experienced lions and bears he had experience. Some of us have had lion and bear experiences upset and distress experience disappointment and false hope experience and all sorts. The only reason why we are here to tell the story is because we overcame by the blood of the Lamb through our testimony. That is why I urge the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus.
So because David trusted in God and not in his ability neither King Saul he killed the giant with a small stone from a stream. The people were afraid of this giant but David killed him by his experience, his testimony and the pure goodness of God.
Youth camp (06) God reviled to us that he needed youth on the front line who are going to stand up for him. These youth will be tearing down some strong holds and building up the Kingdom. The stronghold of fear has to stop because it has no power and position over the people of God.
Notice that after David had slain the Goliath the entire army chased the Philistine back into their territory. The reason for this was because the thing that had imitated them and made them afraid had just been killed the very thing know had no power over them allowing the nation to attack. Therefore God wants a generation of David's who will kill Goliath(fear) so David's you know who you are be obedient to the call because its not just your life you will change but the lives of a generation, homes, churches, colleges, schools and the entire world.
God Bless You All JB
